Penang Arts Ecosystem Map 2021
The overall structure of the ecosystem mapping of Penang’s performing arts and visual arts practitioners and the relationships was developed based on the existing Klang Valley ecosystem map produced by CENDANA. Fundamentally, the ecosystem mapping emphasized the uniqueness of Penang and its local context. The ecosystem map focused on producing a user-friendly and easy-digestible guide in the form of an online and a printed brochure which will be an open access material on CENDANA’s website.
Arts-ED has collaborated with Penang Art District to further understand the landscape of performing and visual arts in Penang based on its experience and knowledge of the subject matter.
The framework of this mapping exercise is divided into 2 sections:
i. Directory Listing Map of Performing Arts and Visual Arts Practitioners
ii. Focus Group Discussion: Ecosystem Map & Scenarios and Impacts
Penang has a unique take on the two proposed art forms (performing arts and visual arts) due to its cultural, heritage, and community values. These two different brochures were constructed to meet the local context of Penang, from their cover design to the content and the overall map itself. Click the link below to view or download it.
