Register your students now for the Cultural Heritage Education Programme (CHEP)

Teachers of Penang! Register your students for this year’s Cultural Heritage Education Programme (CHEP) and watch them develop their 21st century learning skills and values while learning about the value of our local cultural heritage. This year, your students can participate in one of our four educational modules, including:

1) Wa Wa Warisan

A 3-day workshop for primary school students that promotes the value of traditional games and gives them the opportunity to innovate a game all by themselves. The workshop will culminate with a Festival where participants will coach game-playing sessions with their peers and a public audience.

2) Heritage Exploration Trail

Half-day thematic discovery trails of the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site that focuses on its early settlements and the history of migration. Open to primary and secondary schools, students experience the heritage site firsthand and given interactive activities to learn about the different ethnic cultures of George Town.

3) School of Craft

A woodworking workshop for secondary school students where they learn basic carpentry from local experts to raise their awareness and appreciation for wood products through hands-on activities and the application of design thinking principles.

4) Youth Arts Camp

Three creative arts workshops for secondary school students based on Chowrasta Market, a cultural heritage site. Students will explore the market and interact with the local community to learn about their trades and produce artworks based on their findings.
